Elissa Smith – Parklands Local Hero
I am pleased that Elissa Smith won the “Local Hero” Medal in the Kiwi Bank New Zealander of the Year Awards. There were 700 nominations throughout NZ. In December further judging will take place to narrow it down to ten finalists across NZ Below is the letter I wrote supporting Elissa’s nomination for this award.
It is with great pleasure that I write this letter to fully support Elissa Smith’s nomination as a Local Hero for the New Zealander of the Year Awards. I think she is an amazing pillar in the community. She has worked hard for the Parklands community and has given of herself selflessly over the years.
I have had direct contact with Elissa through her work with the Queenspark Play Group, Parklands Residents Association and the Parklands Network. I am aware of many other groups in the community where she makes a positive contribution. I have come to know Elissa well and can fully support Amanda Williams’ statement on Elissa.
Elissa displays a high degree of integrity and responsibility. She is a diligent worker and this is seen in the various roles she plays in the community. She is a spark plug of tireless energy. She is always enthusiastic. She can envisage project ideas and is always keen to make them work well. She is reliable and well-organized and a pleasure to work with.
I find her very dependable and she displays good judgment and mature outlook in all her endeavours. You can delegate tasks to Elissa confidently, knowing they will always be completed as arranged and on time. Parklands Network, a network of agencies and organisations in Parklands, have organised a number of events in the community and Elissa has played a pivotal role in organising these events.
Elissa is softly spoken but is a person with strong and positive convictions. Her positive approach enables her to work with people from diverse backgrounds. That is why she is well-respected by a wide range of people from different groups. Over the years Elissa has grown in confidence and established a strong place in our community.
Elissa does not see the world as a place where you either win or lose. She always finds solutions to advance group objectives that also benefit others.
I encourage you to contact me if you have any questions about Elissa.
I have no reservations in strongly recommending Elissa Smith to you as a local hero in the Parklands area of Christchurch.
