Degrees of Immorality?
Are their degrees of immorality? That’s what I have been thinking over the past day. Right wing bloggers and media have been focusing quite a bit on Len Brown and his affair. Yes, Brown did wrong and I feel for his family. However Len Brown has admitted the affair and now has to work this through with his family.
What about Bevan Chuang? Can she be trusted? Bevan Chuang has also made allegations of being pressured by right-wingers wanting to push Len Brown out of office. Now these right-wingers are saying Chuang is lying. So can we really trust all the sexual details she has made about Brown?
Anyway, I am not interested in the details. Brown has done wrong and has to live with the consequences of his actions. But what about the immoral actions of our right-wing government? I wonder when will the right-wing bloggers attack the policies of our government that I believe are just as immoral, if not worse, than what Len Brown has done.
Civil liberties have been restricted in this country. The findings of the Kitteridge report found that the GCSB acted unlawfully. It’s shocking to hear that surveillance can be done without the knowledge of citizens.
What about the lust for power? There is almost an insatiable lust for power amongst the right-wing. We can even see this in our government. Is our PM seeking to find absolute power by shutting down the opinions of the public? What if the majority of this country do not wish their assets to be sold? What would the government do? Wouldnt it be immoral not to listen to the public who owns the assets?
What about the Skycity deal the government made? Isnt that immoral? Gambling is a problem and it is highly immoral for the government to push for this bill to be passed with probably a very small margin.
What about the workers rights? This government is willing to trample on workers’ rights in order to benefit business owners and the wealthy mates that support them. Who is really benefitting from these government policies? Definitely not the working class citizens!
Yes Len Brown did wrong. But I would rather see Len Brown, who has admitted his wrong, remain as mayor rather than a right-wing puppet of our government who can’t see the wrong they have done.
Just my humble opinion……
